About Gary

Gary Holman was elected as the MLA for Saanich North and the Islands in May 2013.

Gary is the New Democrat Opposition spokesperson for Democratic Reform, Deputy Environment, Fisheries and B.C. Ferries.

Gary was a consulting economist for over 25 years working on projects such as the Nisga’a Treaty and a Protected Areas Strategy for BC.

Gary served as Salt Spring Island’s Capital Regional District Director for six years, helping to establish the island’s first public transit system. He has been involved in the land trust movement in B.C for many years and has worked to establish coalitions between environmental groups to conserve Salt Spring’s drinking water and to protect thousands of acres of green space.

Gary lives on Salt Spring Islands, has two daughters, Erin and Amber, and a stepson Owen.
