NDP Leader John Horgan Statement on Mid-Autumn Festival

VICTORIA – On the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival – 中秋節, New Democrat leader John Horgan made the following statement on behalf of the Official Opposition.

“September 27 is Mid-Autumn Festival – 中秋節 for Chinese around the world. It is one of the most important holiday traditions. On behalf of the New Democrat caucus, we extend our warmest thoughts to the Chinese community as they embark upon a happy Mid-Autumn Festival. All British Columbians who enjoy and share Chinese culture look forward to this celebrating occasion, and we wish them a joyful holiday,” said Horgan.

Bruce Ralston, the New Democrat spokesperson for multiculturalism said, “Mid-Autumn Festival is also called Moon Festival. It is celebrating the end of the autumn harvest. As people who love and share Chinese culture enjoy moon gazing and consumption of mooncakes, it is a time for us also, to acknowledge the important contributions Chinese-Canadians have made and their commitment to greater respect, harmony, and a more compassionate community.
As you celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, we join with you in wishing for a peaceful, and joyous future.”

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! 中秋節快樂!
