BC Liberals failed to act as PST rebates used by money launderers skyrocketed more than 5,000%

A report released today by Dr. Peter German shows that PST rebates for luxury car exports increased from $400,000 in 2013 to $22 million in 2016, representing a 5,400 per cent increase in just three years under the BC Liberal watch.

German reports that through the rebate program, “provincial employees identified numerous red flags of money laundering” through luxury car purchases. But it appears the BC Liberals failed to respond to this unprecedented increase.

BC NDP MLA Ravi Kahlon:

“Under the BC Liberals, these questionable PST rebates skyrocketed over 5,000 per cent. This was yet another red flag that Andrew Wilkinson and the BC Liberals missed or ignored. Were the BC Liberals warned that this spike was related to money laundering? British Columbians deserve to hear from Andrew Wilkinson and Mike De Jong about what they knew and when they knew it.”
