VICTORIA – New Democrat MLA Doug Donaldson is welcoming over $44,000 in Community Gaming Grant funding to Parent Advisory Councils to benefit students in the Stikine.

“These grants will help PACs with the important work they do supporting extracurricular learning in our schools,” said Doug Donaldson, MLA for Stikine. “I’m really excited for the opportunities this money will help create for students.”

Schools receive PAC funding each year to provide students from kindergarten to Grade 12 with a variety of extracurricular experiences including field trips, sports and playground equipment, music, and writing and debate competitions. MLA Donaldson said this year eight school PACs are receiving $44,280 in Gaming Grant funding in his constituency.

Donaldson said the New Democrat government believes that no child should be denied opportunities because their family can’t afford it, and that programs like the Community Gaming Grants and the new Playground Equipment Program help level the playing field.
