VANCOUVER – New Democrat MLA Mable Elmore is welcoming $42,500 in funding for the South Vancouver Community Crime Prevention Society, based in Vancouver-Kensington. The organization, which provides public safety services, is receiving funds through the Community Gaming Grants program.

“Part of building community safety means investing in crime prevention and I am so thankful for the volunteers and members of the South Vancouver Community Crime Prevention Society that offer their time and skills to protect our community,” said MLA Elmore. “I’m proud that through Community Gaming Grants our government is supporting them right back.”

In 2019-20, the Province is providing approximately $5.6 million to nearly 125 organizations in the public safety sector. Through public safety programs, non-profit organizations provide emergency and lifesaving services including search and rescue activities, volunteer fire departments, emergency preparedness, and community and restorative justice for people across the province.

The Community Gaming Grants program provides up to $140 million to about 5,000 not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia each year.
