POWELL RIVER – New Democrat MLA Nicholas Simons is welcoming over $56,000 through the province’s BC Arts Council (BCAC) Grant Program to support Powell River’s Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy (PRISMA). This round of funding is part of the government’s commitment to doubling investment in the BC Arts Council over four years.

“PRISMA contributes so much to our thriving arts scene and reflects the vibrancy of our community,” said Simons, MLA for Powell River – Sunshine Coast. “These grants will help support all the events that PRISMA offers, from the master classes to the concerts. This is very welcome news for the Sunshine Coast.”

PRISMA has been awarded three grants, totalling $56,375, which will go towards operating expenses and the purchase of new instruments.

The New Democrat Government is providing more opportunities for British Columbians to succeed in their creative careers. The BC Arts Council is the provincial government’s lead agency for arts funding and development.
