About Rick

Rick Glumac was elected MLA for Port Moody-Coquitlam in 2017 and re-elected in 2020. He is proud to represent communities in Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam and Port Moody. He is the Chair of the Special Committee to Review the Personal Information Protection Act, Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts, and is a member of the Special Committee on Reforming the Police Act.  He also currently serves as the Canadian Vice President of the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region.

Rick was previously Parliamentary Secretary for Technology, and was a member of the Sustainable Shared Prosperity Cabinet Committee.

Rick was appointed by the Premier to be B.C.’s representative to the Pacific Northwest Economic Region, where he worked on cross-border issues related to economic development including strengthening relationships along the Cascadia Innovation Corridor. Following his successful leadership role in the Pacific NorthWest Economic Region, Rick has been appointed by the Premier as Liaison for the State of Washington. He is tasked with ensuring that the B.C. government remains engaged on important cross-border issues, like the Cascadia Innovation Corridor and the prospect of high-speed rail between the two jurisdictions. He is a member of the Sustainable Shared Prosperity Cabinet Committee.

From 2011 to 2017, Rick served as a city councillor for the city of Port Moody and has chaired the city’s Economic Development Committee, Environmental Protection Committee, Heritage Commission, Arts and Culture Committee and Community Care Committee.  He led efforts to improve funding for Eagle Ridge hospital, expand childcare and preschool space, improve environmental practices and increase park space in the community.  He served as Vice President of the Lower Mainland Local Government Association and was elected as Vancouver Metro Area Representative at the Union of BC Municipalities.  He has also served on Metro Vancouver’s Zero Waste Committee and on the Fraser Health Municipal Government Advisory Council.

Rick graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering. Rick has worked in a variety of hi-tech industries, from animation on major films like Shrek 2 and Madagascar, to developing mobile apps for Fortune 500 companies. Rick understands first-hand the value of supporting BC’s vibrant tech sector.
