New Democrat leader Adrian Dix has urged Premier Christy Clark to work together with him to protect 350 jobs lost in the lower mainland due to the shutdown of Aveos Fleet Performance Inc., the company that provides maintenance services to Air Canada’s aircraft fleet.
Dix has written to Premier Clark proposing that Liberals and New Democrats join together to pass a resolution of the legislature urging Prime Minister Harper to intervene to protect these jobs.
In his letter, Dix says that these are the sort of highly-skilled, well-paid jobs that B.C. needs to attract and in this case protect. They are the sort of jobs that support families and help sustain a prosperous economy. We need to act together as British Columbians to protect them.
