B.C. New Democrat Women’s Caucus calls on Premier to take action to protect women on campus

Posted in: ,

The B.C. New Democrat Women’s Caucus, along with New Democrat advanced education critic David Eby, is calling on Premier Clark to show solidarity with women in B.C.’s advanced education institutions after it became public that students at UBC’s Sauder School of Business were participating in pro-rape chanting during frosh week activities. New Democrats are asking for the government to show they take this issue seriously by investigating whether these kinds of activities are happening on other campuses across the province. With more than 1 in 4 Canadian women expected to experience sexual assault in their lives, action needs to be taken to ensure our post-secondary institutions are safe for everyone.
