Vernon– BC NDP MLA Harwinder Sandhu says grants for local not-for-profit organizations will support sports organizations so that people can stay active and healthy in Vernon-Monashee.
“For people of all ages, sports are a great way to stay active and healthy,” says Harwinder Sandhu, MLA for Vernon-Monashee. “By providing funding, sports organizations can continue to grow and serve even more people in our community.”
Over $572,000 in funding for 20 organizations in Vernon-Monashee is part of the $25 million in Community Gaming Grants that will be shared among 736 organizations that deliver sports programs or services across BC that will improve the quality of life in their communities.
Some of the organizations receiving funding include:

$75,000 to the Greater Vernon Minor Hockey Association

$98,800 to Cross Country BC

$65,000 to the North Okanagan Youth Soccer Association

$52,000 to the Vernon Curling and Athletic Club
The Community Gaming Grants Program distributes up to $140 million worth of grants annually to not-for-profit organizations across British Columbia that improve and enrich the lives of people and communities. These include sports, arts, environmental, quality of life, and health and safety organizations. These grants help approximately 5,000 organizations to deliver ongoing programs and services in their communities.
