JORDAN RIVER – BC New Democrat MLA Dana Lajeunesse says that people who use off-road vehicle trails in the Juan de Fuca region will see improvements thanks to funding for the Vancouver Island Dirt Riders Association.

“One of the best parts of living rurally on the South Island is the access to amazing trails, including for motorcycles and dirt bikes. Having grown up in Jordan River myself, I put thousands of kilometers on my various dirtbikes in and around the Tansky Trail back in the day,” said Dana Lajeunesse, MLA for Juan de Fuca-Malahat. “The Vancouver Island Dirt Riders Association has plans to reroute the trail and build a water crossing, and I’m happy to share that we’re supporting them with funding toward the realisation of this important piece of recreational infrastructure.”

The Vancouver Island Dirt Riders Association is receiving $19,107 for Tansky Impact Trail Reroutes and Water Crossing Planning.

This project is one of 24 receiving funding through the provincial government’s Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Trail Fund. Projects include building and maintaining trails or promoting safe and responsible use among riders.

The fund is supported by ICBC off-road vehicle registration fees across the province. Since its beginning in 2017, more than $2.5 million has supported 184 projects throughout the province.
