LANGFORD – BC New Democrat MLAs Ravi Parmar and Dana Lajeunesse say that a provincial grant will support upcoming local events, including the Sooke Fine Arts Show and Island FanCon
“Langford is a world-class destination for sporting, cultural, and community events that bring people of all walks of life together, helping boost our local economy, and make our town more vibrant,” said Ravi Parmar, MLA for Langford-Highlands. “We’re ready to welcome people from across British Columbia and beyond.”
Local events are receiving funding from the provincial government’s Destination Events Program include:
- 2026 Sooke Fine Arts Show – $24,000
- The Great Canadian Bash, 2026 – $22,000
- Island FanCon, 2027 – $16,000
“The Sooke Fine Arts Show is a highlight of our summer, bringing artists and art afficionados from around B.C. and beyond together in our community,” said Dana Lajeunesse, MLA for Juan de Fuca-Malahat. “This summer, as the Sooke Fine Arts Society celebrates the 40th anniversary of this, their flagship event, I’m pleased to support the organization to run another great event this year, as they continue to welcome the world to our community to support local business and promote tourism on Vancouver Island.”
