VICTORIA – BC NDP MLAs Grace Lore, Darlene Rotchford, and Nina Krieger say capital project grants for local non-profit organizations will support work to improve wellbeing and expand arts and culture for people in Greater Victoria and Esquimalt.
“Non-profit organizations play such an important role in promoting culture, community, and supporting health for people in Victoria,” said Grace Lore, MLA for Victoria-Beacon Hill. “By supporting local organisations to continue providing valuable programs and services, we are working together to support our communities. I am looking forward to seeing the good work that these non-profits will continue to do with the support of these grants.”
In Greater Victoria, the following organizations are receiving funding:
- AVI Health and Community Services Society, $160,000
- Victoria Native Friendship Centre, $55,000
- Victoria Symphony Society, $33,500
- Wonderheads Theatre Society, $14,200
“Local non-profits help create strong, safe, and connected neighbourhoods,” said Darlene Rotchford, MLA for Esquimalt-Colwood. “These grants support community focused programming and supports that will help to build a better future for families in our region.”
Across B.C., 39 non-profit organizations are receiving a total of $5.1 million for capital projects through the Community Gaming Grants program.
In total, more that $138 million will be distributed through all streams of the Community Gaming Grant program for the 2025/26, helping to ensure funding reaches organizations that build connected, inclusive and resilient communities.
