METCHOSIN – Local organizations will continue to deliver programs that improve people’s quality of life thanks to nearly $61 million in Community Gaming Grants for human and social services, says New Democrat MLA Mitzi Dean.
“People in our community know the benefits of having amazing local organizations there to help them from accessing food to caring for children to supporting families with skills and resources, and more,” said Mitzi Dean, MLA for Esquimalt-Metchosin. “These grants will help support these organizations that we’re so fortunate to be served by.”
Fourteen organizations in the region are receiving $567,200 in funding for human and social services, such as meeting the needs of under-served groups, providing public outreach and education, and more, including:
- Victoria Rainbow Kitchen Society – $ 60,000
- Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria – $ 102,500
- 2483 Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, RCACC – $ 5,000
- Esquimalt Neighbourhood House Society – $ 100,000
The $61 million in funding this year for human and social services grants comes out of the $140 million distributed annually to not-for-profit organizations that deliver other essential services and make life better for people in British Columbia.
