Kerry-Lynne Findlay digs deeper into far-right Fantasy Garden

Kerry-Lynne Findlay is sowing the seeds of social conservatism even deeper with the hire of Chris Delaney, former top advisor to Bill Vander Zalm.

Delaney pushed to block same sex marriage and close abortion clinics as leader of the fringe B.C. Unity Party.

“What used to be an extreme sideshow within the B.C. Conservative caucus is now the main attraction under Kerry-Lynne Findlay,” said B.C. NDP MLA Stephanie Higginson. “It’s no wonder that even some B.C. Conservatives want to get off the ride.”

Findlay campaigned on the slogan “Faith, Family, Freedom,” an invasive species of political rhetoric imported from U.S. anti-abortion activists.

Delaney attempted to cultivate a comeback for Vander Zalm, even after the Fantasy Gardens scandal forced his resignation.

“Kerry-Lynne Findlay is driving her party off the rails of Canadian values of acceptance and respect for each other,” said Higginson. “If this wasn’t so serious and if the consequences weren’t so dire, this would almost be funny. But just like it did for Fantasy Gardens and Vander Zalm, it’s clear that this extreme ride will end in disaster for British Columbians.”
