VICTORIA – New Democrat MLA Doug Routley is welcoming $1,083,805 in funding for arts, culture and sport not-for-profit organizations through the Community Gaming Grants program. 39 local organizations are receiving funding, including the Nanaimo Art Gallery Society and the Mid Isle Soccer Club.
“As an avid cyclist, I know the importance of sport, arts and culture for the health and vitality of our community,” said MLA Doug Routley. “These grants greatly benefit our local organizations and give people in Nanaimo and Ladysmith the opportunity to pursue a creative and active lifestyle.”
Over 700 not-for-profit organizations around the province are receiving approximately $18 million to deliver performing arts, literature, heritage and cultural programs for people of all ages.
The Province is also providing approximately $27.5 million to more than 850 sport sector organizations in 2018-19. These programs create opportunities for people who would not otherwise be able to participate and who can benefit from organized, competitive physical activities in their community.
The Community Gaming Grants program provides up to $140 million to about 5,000 not-for-profit organizations in British Columbia each year.
