CASTLEGAR – New Democrat MLA Katrine Conroy is welcoming $32,000 through the province’s BC Arts Council Grant Program to support local artists in Castlegar and Trail. This round of funding is part of the government’s commitment to doubling investment in the BC Arts Council over four years.
“Artists strengthen our community and play an important role in our local economy,” said Conroy, MLA for Kootenay West. “This investment in creative thinking and skills development will help support this diverse set of artists here in the Kootenays.”
MLA Katrine Conroy said this is the second significant investment by the BC New Democrat government in the BC Arts Council, increasing its annual budget to $34 million in 2019/20. This record-level funding will allow the BC Arts Council to enhance arts and cultural development throughout the province, and to increase equity, diversity, and access for artists.

- Carmen Moreira, $2,000
- Danza SQX, $25,000
