CASTLEGAR- New Democrat MLA Katrine Conroy is welcoming $31,500 in capital project funding for two community organizations in Castlegar and Rossland. One $17,000 grant will go to the Castlegar Sculpturewalk Society to support sculpture infrastructure upgrades throughout the city. Another $14,500 grant will go to the Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club Society to support the purchase of a new snowmobile and groomer. These community organizations are two of 63 benefitting from the capital project grant, which funds upgrades to community facilities, infrastructure, and equipment.
“Strong community sport and arts organizations are part of what makes the West Kootenays a great place to live,” said Conroy. “I’m glad these organizations are getting this support for upgraded infrastructure.”
In 2019-20, the Province is providing $5 million in capital project grants for organizations to buy and upgrade community facilities, infrastructure and equipment.
The capital projects program is part of the annual $140 million Community Gaming Grants program supporting about 5,000 community organizations that deliver arts and culture, sport, environment, public safety, human and social services, and parent advisory councils.
