QUALICUM BEACH – New Democrat MLA Adam Walker says that provincial funding for arts organizations and people working in the arts will help the local sector continue to recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic.

“Supporting artists and arts organizations will allow them to sustain their work and overcome the challenges posed by the pandemic,” said Adam Walker, MLA for Parksville-Qualicum. “It’s great to see our government investing in the arts with this funding”

In Oceanside the following projects are receiving funding, for a total of over $68,000

  • Caitlin Press $24,156
  • Oceanside Community Arts Council $19,337
  • Qualicum Beach Historical and Museum Society $25,198

The funding is distributed through the BC Arts Council and will provide a total of $34.5 million to arts and culture organizations throughout B.C. Grants will help support infrastructure projects and address rising costs for organizations who have been impacted by a loss of audiences, reduced profits, and increased expenses since the pandemic.
