ABBOTSFORD- New Democrat MLA says local organizations and parent advisory councils will be able to support young artists and extracurricular activities thanks to over $567,000 in Community Gaming Grants funding. This round of funding is from the Community Gaming Grants program’s arts and culture stream and parent advisory council and district parent advisory council (PAC/DPAC) stream.

“As a former school trustee, I know that the work done by Parent Advisory Councils helps make sure that students are making connections at school and being set up for success” said Pam Alexis, MLA for Abbotsford-Mission. “Having outlets outside of work and school are so important for students and adults and that’s why giving funding to community arts organizations and PACs is so important.”

In Abbotsford, organizations receiving funding to support arts and culture include:

  • Gallery 7 Theatre and Performing Arts Society- $50,600
  • Heritage Abbotsford Society- $46,200
  • Abbotsford Agrifair- $80,000

Parent advisory councils/district parent advisory councils are receiving funding to support extracurricular events, activities and equipment include:

  • Abbotsford Senior Secondary PAC- $24, 460
  • Abbotsford Traditional School PAC- $14,420
  • W.J. Mouat Secondary School PAC- $28,840

More than $18.2 million in new funding will go to over 650 organizations to support arts and culture across the province.
