NEW WESTMINSTER – Local MLA Judy Darcy says students will benefit from safer, more efficient schools thanks to over $1.5 million in provincial funding for school upgrade projects in the New Westminster School District.
“Students deserve safe, upgraded buildings, which is why we’re taking action on the backlog of needed upgrades right around the province,” said Darcy. Addressing maintenance issues allows our kids to focus on what matters most — their education.”
New Westminster School District (SD40) is receiving $1,598,000 in funding for school maintenance projects under the School Enhancement Program including, boiler and furnace upgrades at Lord Kelvin Elementary, flooring upgrades at Herbert Spencer Elementary, and mechanical systems upgrades to replace rooftop air handlers at Glenbrook Middle School.
Since September 2017, the New Democrat government has approved over $3.6 million for school upgrades in the district.
