DAAJING GIIDS – New Democrat MLA Jennifer Rice says that funding announced today will bring 17 new affordable rental homes to Daajing Giids to help more people with moderate and low incomes find a place to live.
“It’s exciting to be building more homes on Haida Gwaii,” says Jennifer Rice, MLA for North Coast. “Every community in B.C. faces unique housing challenges that need to be addressed. The Daajing Giids Heritage Housing Society is a perfect example of an organization that understands their community’s goals and needs. Our government supports them in achieving these goals.”
Daajing Giids Heritage Housing Society had a successful Community Housing Fund application for 17 homes for families, seniors and people living with disabilities.
The Community Housing Fund is a $3.3 billion investment to build more than 20,000 affordable rental homes for people with moderate and low incomes by 2031-32
Projects were approved based on several criteria, including prioritized populations and the impact the project would have on the community’s housing needs.
