VICTORIA – New Democrat MLA for Surrey-Green Timbers rose in the B.C. Legislature yesterday to celebrate the start of child care month.
“May is Child Care Month in B.C., and I want to take this opportunity to commend those individuals that have been champions for child care for many years in our province,” said MLA Singh. “Thank you to the many advocates, parents, grandparents, child care providers and early childhood educators.”
MLA Singh added that as a mother of two, she knows firsthand the joy that children bring into one’s life, and what a relief it is to have a reliable child care provider and early childhood educators.
“When I first moved to Canada, my husband and I were young parents, and child care was not readily accessible and affordable,” MLA Singh continued. “Our little family felt the need for child care support when both of us were trying to establish ourselves here.”
The New Democrat government has delivered results for families with new spaces, fee reductions, and the affordable child care benefit, and remains committed to delivering universal, accessible, affordable child care for B.C. parents.
