SURREY – New Democrat MLA Rachna Singh says people will benefit from a $125,000 investment in a clean tech project that will support a healthier environment and green jobs.

“By investing in clean tech we are reducing carbon emissions, supporting innovation and creating jobs,” said Singh, MLA for Surrey-Green Timbers. “This project will mean more electric trucks and buses on our highways and roads, directly contributing to the de-carbonization of our transportation sector.”

Powertech Labs is receiving $125,000 to develop low carbon fuels for heavy-duty vehicles by advancing hydrogen fueling testing facilities and fueling infrastructure design and standards.

This year, the province is providing $8.4 million for nine projects through the Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund. Part of the government’s CleanBC plan, the ICE Fund supports the research, development and commercialization of clean energy technologies that will reduce B.C.’s emissions and create new economic opportunities.

The BC New Democrat Government has been working hard to keep people safe and healthy and will continue to work hard on a long-term recovery to build B.C. back stronger.
