North Vancouver – New Democrat MLA Chant says students at Capilano University will have greater access to valuable learning opportunities with new co-op and work-integrated learning funding.
“It’s so important that post-secondary students are well prepared to enter our workforce after graduation,” said Susie Chant, MLA for North Vancouver-Seymour. “The work-integrated learning programs offered here at Capilano University will provide students with invaluable hands-on experience, allowing them to develop the necessary skills and connections to be successful in their future careers. Over 100 new placements, including dedicated placements for Indigenous students, for work integrated learning will strengthen the connections CapU has with our community.”
Capilano University will receive $153,700 to secure 100 new WIL placements and an additional 15 placements for Indigenous students by increasing student and faculty awareness of WIL programs.
This one-time funding will expand co-op and work-integrated learning programs, and focus on placements in sectors impacted by the pandemic. In total, 47 projects are being funded at all 25 public post-secondary institutions in B.C, creating up to 3,000 new co-op and work-integrated learning placements for students.
Investing in an economy that works for everyone is part of the New Democrat government’s plan to build back a stronger B.C.
