SURREY – New Democrat MLA Garry Begg is honouring Lovepreet Brar for their work supporting crime prevention and community safety, with a focus on transformative Indigenous-led approaches.
“My heartfelt congratulations to Lovepreet Brar’s outstanding leadership and dedication assisting victims of crime and their families,” said Surrey-Guildford MLA Garry Begg. “I applaud the trauma-informed and empathic support provided by Lovepreet to those in need, not only because it sets a high standard of service but because she is doing her part to make Surrey a better place to live for everyone.”
The awards acknowledge individuals, non-profit organizations and justice and community partners for their work in advancing crime prevention, restorative justice, support for vulnerable people and other initiatives that keep our communities safer. These efforts support provincial initiatives in crime prevention, victim services and policing.
The Community Safety and Crime Prevention Award was presented to Brar in Surrey. She is the manager of the Surrey Family Liaison Victim Services as part of the RCMP Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT)
