PORT ALBERNI – NDP MLA Josie Osborne says 72 new, affordable rental homes are coming to Port Alberni and Tofino for people with low to moderate incomes.

“Everyone deserves a safe, affordable and comfortable place to call home,” said ML   A Osborne. “These projects will make that a reality for 72 families and free up much-needed rental space in communities all along the West Coast. Thank you to our community and Indigenous partners for making this a reality.”

The Citaapi Mahtii Housing Society will build 35 new units in Port Alberni for Indigenous people and the Catalyst Community Developments Society will build 37 new units in Tofino for families, seniors, persons with disabilities and singles.

The intake will provide approximately 2,455 rental homes for individuals, families, seniors, people with disabilities and Indigenous peoples throughout the province.
