SAANICH – New Democrat MLA Lana Popham say local organizations will be able to protect local ecosystems and keep people safe thanks to $117,000 from the Community Gaming Grants program for environmental initiatives.

“When our local ecosystems and environment thrive, everyone in our community is better for it,” said Lana Popham, MLA for Saanich South. “Organizations like The Land Conservancy of British Columbia and the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific work hard to make this a reality in Saanich.”

In Saanich, the following organizations are receiving funding for environmental initiatives, such as animal protection, conservation and environmental awareness programs:

  • Horticulture Centre of the Pacific, $70,000
  • TLC The Land Conservancy of British Columbia, $47,000

More than $12 million in new funding for public safety and environment programs will support 281 non-profit organizations that are helping make life better for people throughout B.C.
