SAANICH – New Democrat MLA Lana Popham says new early childhood education seats at Camosun College will train more child care workers, helping make child care more accessible to families.
“Early childhood educators play a huge role in children’s healthy development and these 24 new spaces at Camosun mean that more people will have the training they need to do this vital work,” said Lana Popham, MLA for Saanich South. “By making these long-term investments, we are building a strong childcare system across the province that will benefit everyone.”
Camosun College is receiving funding for 24 new seats in the ECE program, for a combined total of 147 new seats at eight institutions provincewide. The new ECE seats include full and part-time studies, online learning, and specialty programs in Indigenous community-based delivery, infant and toddler, and special needs.
New Democrats are committed to bringing affordable, quality, inclusive childcare to families throughout the province.
