SAANICH – New Democrat MLAs Grace Lore, Murray Rankin, Ravi Parmar, and Lana Popham say local nonprofit organizations are receiving funding to support their work as they continue serving the community.
“Local theatre brings people together, shares important stories, and supports artists in our community and beyond,” said Grace Lore, MLA for Victoria-Beacon Hill. “These upgrades we’re helping fund for the Belfry will help the theatre continue to bring amazing works to audiences in the community with newer and better equipment.”
In Victoria, Saanich and the Westshore, the following nonprofits received funding for capital projects:
- Athletics Victoria Track and Field Society, $15,000 for a throwing infrastructure enhancement project (Saanich)
- Belfry Theatre Society, $25,000 for electrical lighting upgrades (Victoria)
- Greater Victoria Horseshoe Pitching Association, $29,435 for flat roof removal and replacement (Saanich)
- Highland Hertiage Park Society, $20,000 for replacements and repairs at Gregory House (Highlands)

“Within our community, many organizations are tirelessly working to make a difference. The Sooke Family Resource Society and the Highland Park Heritage Society, both of which we’re backing, exemplify this dedication. They will undoubtedly play pivotal roles in fostering positive change,” said Ravi Parmar, MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca.
This year, $5.2 million in Community Gaming Grants will be shared among 62 organizations for capital projects that will improve quality of life in B.C. communities.
The funding is part of $140 million provided annually through Community Gaming Grants to not-for-profit organizations throughout B.C. These grants help approximately 5,000 organizations to deliver ongoing programs and services in their communities.
