RICHMOND – New Democrat MLAs says Kelly Greene, Henry Yao and Aman Singh say local organizations will be able to protect local ecosystems and keep people safe thanks to $230,000 from the Community Gaming Grants program for environmental and public safety initiatives.
“Non-profit organizations in Richmond work hard to provide services and supports for people,” said Kelly Greene, MLA for Richmond-Steveston. “This funding will help organizations like the Fraser Marine Rescue Society to continue their work of keeping people safe out on the water.
In Richmond, the following community organizations are receiving funding for public safety work, which can include restorative justice, firefighting, search and rescue, emergency preparedness and community safety.
- Fraser Marine Rescue Society, $80,000
The following local organizations are receiving funding for environmental initiatives, such as animal protection, conservation and environmental awareness programs:
- Regional Animal Protection Society, $150,000
“We are fortunate to have so many amazing organizations in Richmond that work to make our community better,” said Aman Singh, MLA for Richmond-Queensborough. “This funding will ensure that these important services are available to those who need them most.”
More than $12 million in new funding for public safety and environment programs will support 281 non-profit organizations that are helping make life better for people throughout B.C.
