NDP MLAs say new infrastructure funding a boost for community services

MAPLE RIDGE – New Democrat MLAs Lisa Beare and Bob D’Eith say that Capital Grants through the Community Gaming Grants (CGG) program will help multiple organizations build, upgrade and deliver better services to Maple Ridge.

“Community Gaming Grants support a variety of organizations that are vital to our communities. This year’s funding going to organizations in Maple Ridge will benefit children and animals alike!” said Lisa Beare, MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows.

The Capital Grants stream of the CGG supports not-for-profits and other community organizations to purchase, build, upgrade, or expand infrastructure that allows them to continue providing services or meet growing demand. In Maple Ridge, the folling organizations are receiving funding:
• The Paws for Hope Animal Foundation is receiving $26,500
• The Family Education and Support Centre is receiving $59,848
• The Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows Art Council is $170,652

“While people are truly the driving force behind community organizations, having proper infrastructure allows them to provide the services they do. These capital grants will provide upgraded facilities for multiple local services that help make Maple Ridge such a great place to live,” said Bob D’Eith, MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission.

The Capital Grants stream is providing over $5 million to 45 organizations across British Columbia for the 2021/22 fiscal year.

The capital projects program is part of the annual $140-million Community Gaming Grants program supporting about 5,000 community organizations that deliver arts and culture, sport, environment, public safety, human and social services, and parent advisory councils
