VICTORIA – New Democrat MLAs officially welcomed Gwen O’Mahony into caucus Wednesday morning, as she was sworn in as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Chilliwack-Hope. O’Mahony was joined by Joe Trasolini, who was sworn in as the MLA for Port Moody – Coquitlam.
“Representing the people of my wonderful communities is a great honour and an opportunity to bring attention to the issues that matter,” said O’Mahony. “The people of this riding have been unrepresented in the legislature for months. They deserve an MLA who will stand up for things like affordability, the environment, and post-secondary education. And I’m getting to work doing just that.”
O’Mahony has spent the past few weeks in Victoria while the legislature has been in session, and at home in Chilliwack-Hope working on issues brought forward by constituents.
“I am excited to be working as part of such a positive, strong, and committed team,” said O’Mahony. “And I will be working hard to bring forward the perspectives and voices of the people I represent.”
O’Mahony is also looking forward to opening an office in her constituency to better meet with and address the needs of the communities in her constituency face-to-face.
O’Mahony and Trasolini join Adrian Dix and B.C.’s New Democrats in working for positive change now, while holding the tired B.C. Liberal government to account.
