John Rustad has picked several MLAs who have expressed bigoted views and spread conspiracy theories for important roles in his shadow cabinet.

His new Health critic is “Freedom” Convoy donor Anna Kindy, who has received disciplinary letters from the College of Physicians and Surgeons for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines.

His Transit and ICBC critic Brent Chapman called Muslim children “little inbred walking, talking, breathing time bombs,” suggested that mass shootings were faked to advance a gun control agenda, and implied that graves at residential schools were a fraud.

His Deputy Whip Sheldon Clare equated gun control laws with the WWII-era internment of Japanese Canadians.

His Attorney General critic Dallas Brodie blamed First Nations for “dumping” their members on the downtown eastside.

His Agriculture Expansion critic Jordan Kealy has pushed conspiracy theories about chemtrails.

One of his Children and Families critics Heather Maahs is anti-abortion and was formally censured by the Chilliwack school board for breaching the code of conduct by opposing inclusive practices in schools.
