BULKLEY – NECHAKO – New Democrat MLA Nathan Cullen is welcoming funding to improve local emergency support services (ESS) for people evacuated from their homes during natural disasters or other emergencies.
“Northern communities know firsthand the need for reliable services for evacuees during emergencies,” says Nathan Cullen, MLA for Stikine. “This funding for local emergency support services offers peace of mind for our community members, knowing that the equipment, supplies, and volunteers are prepared.”
The Bulkley – Nechako Regional District is receiving $89,238.46 in funding for Emergency Support Services Exercise and Equipment Acquisition.
In total, $2.2 million is being distributed to communities across the province. The funding will expand local capacity to provide emergency support services through volunteer recruitment, retention, training, and the purchase of supplies and equipment. This funding will also support the modernization of local ESS programs to move toward digital registration and reporting.
