VANCOUVER – New Democrat leader Adrian Dix and Bruce Ralston, critic for trade and multiculturalism, issued the following statement for Eid-al-Adha:

“On behalf of the New Democrat caucus, we extend our best wishes for a happy Eid Al Adha to British Columbians of Islamic faith.

“During this holiest of occasions commemorating sacrifice and devotion, the Muslim community gathers together in celebrations and offers charity and assistance to people in need, both within our province and beyond. The holiday draws into focus one of the most important tenants of Islam – that one should practice generosity and compassion towards the broader community on a daily basis. This teaching is reflected in the many great contributions made to our province by the Muslim community.
