VICTORIA – New Democrat health critic Judy Darcy released the following statement in recognition of Paramedic Services Week 2014:
“Paramedics serve on the front lines of our health care system providing emergency medical services to people across B.C. 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is important that we take the time to recognize their dedication to their profession and the pursuit of keeping over 4.4 million British Columbians safe and healthy.
“As an integral part of B.C.’s multi-disciplinary health care team, paramedics are often the first point of contact for people experiencing a medical crisis and provide lifesaving interventions by road, boat and air. From busy urban centres, to remote and rural communities, B.C.’s paramedics are dedicated health professionals with exceptional expertise. I encourage all British Columbians to recognize the life-saving work of paramedics and acknowledge the invaluable role they play in the health and wellbeing of our province’s communities.”
