VICTORIA – New Democrat leader Adrian Dix issued the following statement on the tragic shooting at the Western Forest Products mill in Nanaimo Wednesday:

“It is with heavy hearts we mourn for those who were killed or injured in today’s tragic shooting in Nanaimo. Our thoughts and prayers also go out to the families of the victims, and the people of Nanaimo who are in shock from this horrible act of violence.

“It will take a long time for people to process, understand and accept the events of today.

“On behalf of Leonard Krog, MLA for Nanaimo, area MLAs Doug Routley and Bill Routley, and the entire Official Opposition caucus, I extend our commitment to offer whatever support and help we can to those who were injured and the victims’ families.”
