To the Government of B.C.: cover the cost of medically necessary insulin pumps

Thousands of British Columbians with Type 1 diabetes require an insulin pump to regulate their blood sugar levels, live healthy and productive lives, and prevent serious, costly and life-threatening complications.

Alberta and Ontario have no age restriction on insulin pump coverage. But B.C. Pharmacare does not pay for insulin pumps for people over 25. This denies medically-necessary care to those who can’t afford to pay.

We the undersigned call on the British Columbia government to cover the cost of insulin pumps for all patients with Type 1 diabetes whose physicians have determined that they are clinically required.
