Andrew Wilkinson’s one-per cent dinner on for tonight

Dress well and bring your wallet, one-percenters! BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson wants you to join him for dinner tonight at Vancouver’s Point Grey Golf Club.

In yet another effort to cast himself as a “regular guy,” Wilkinson is hosting his annual dinner at Vancouver’s Point Grey Golf Club, which you can join for the low price of $80,000 per year, according to a 2011 story on private golf clubs.

That makes the West Vancouver Yacht Club’s $15,000 fee look downright affordable. Wilkinson visited the West Van Yacht Club one year ago to criticize the speculation tax.

If you have the means, it sounds like the Point Grey Golf Club is a lovely place to spend an afternoon or an evening.

“Whether you’re sitting in the sun on our deck overlooking the course’s opening and closing holes, or kicking back in our dining room with its setting swathed in natural light, you’ll know you are part of a club with a difference,” the website boasts.

BC NDP MLA Bob D’Eith:

“Andrew Wilkinson clearly knows his base – the super-rich who spend their time in swanky yacht and golf clubs. While he represents the interests of the wealthy, John Horgan and our team are working for all British Columbians.”
