Are BC Liberals for or against using proof of vaccine to keep people safe?

Seven days after the BC New Democrat government’s announcement that people in B.C. will soon have to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination to participate in specific social and recreational activities, the BC Liberals refuse to take a position on the issue.

Speaking today on the Mike Smyth Show, BC Liberal Public Safety Critic Mike Morris would not say whether his caucus supports proof of vaccine despite being asked the question four times by the radio talk show host. (transcript available here)

The new requirement is designed to drive up vaccination rates. Since the announcement on Aug. 23 that proof of vaccine will be needed to participate in these discretionary activities starting in mid-September, registration for vaccination has increased by 201% over the previous week.

Aman Singh, MLA for Richmond-Queensborough

“Every member of the BC New Democrat caucus supports proof of vaccination because it will help keep British Columbians safe. Meanwhile, the BC Liberal caucus refuses to take a stand. That is simply unacceptable, especially with so much at stake.”
