VICTORIA – B.C. New Democrat leader, John Horgan issued the following statement to mark Holocaust Education Month:

“Today we pay tribute with Jewish communities across Canada and around the world in remembering the millions of innocent men, women and children murdered during one of the darkest periods of human history.

“Holocaust Education Month is an important opportunity for all Canadians irrespective of religion to learn about the Shoah, and its horrible and cruel history. Through many community events held throughout Canada we can all earn about this tragic episode.

Collectively we have a deep and longstanding obligation to preserve the memory of the Holocaust and to enable our future generations to never forget the lessons of the past.

“As we honor the survivors and those who perished during the Shoah, we can all learn fundamental and very human lessons from this terrible chapter of history and prevent it from ever being repeated.”
