VANCOUVER – New Democrat MLA Mable Elmore is welcoming $78,680 in Community Gaming Grant funding to parent advisory councils to benefit students in Vancouver-Kensington.
“Today’s funding announcement is great news for students and their families,” said Mable Elmore, MLA for Vancouver-Kensington. “Regular funding like this allows children to take full advantage of all that their school has to offer, without having to worry about the cost. I’m proud to be part of a government that invests in students and is making life better for British Columbians.”
Schools receive PAC funding each year to provide students from kindergarten to Grade 12 with a variety of extracurricular experiences including field trips, sports and playground equipment, music, and writing and debate competitions. MLA Elmore said this year the following schools are receiving Gaming Grant funding in her constituency:
- David Livingstone Elementary: $6,800.00
- General Brock Elementary: $4,320.00
- John Oliver Secondary: $22,080.00
- Lord Selkirk Annex: $1,820.00
- Sir Alexander MacKenzie Elementary: $8,740.00
- Sir Charles Tupper Secondary: $21,280.00
- Sir Sandford Fleming Elementary: $9,780.00
- Andrew’s School: $3,860.00
Elmore said the New Democrat government believes that no child should be denied opportunities because their family can’t afford it, and that programs like the Community Gaming Grants and the new Playground Equipment Program help level the playing field.
