NEW WESTMINSTER – New Democrat MLAs Judy Darcy and Raj Chouhan are welcoming new child care funding for the Spirit of the Children Society, as part of the B.C. government’s Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) agreement with the Government of Canada.
“New funding for Aboriginal Supported Child Development means that Indigenous children who need extra support will get the help they need in child care programs – and they will be able to learn about their culture and heritage,” said MLA for New Westminster Judy Darcy.
“Every child deserves quality care that will help them learn and grow,” added MLA for Burnaby-Edmonds Raj Chouhan. “I’m glad our New Democrat government is taking action to ensure inclusive child care is available to all families who need it.”
The Spirit of the Children Society is one of 83 organizations across the province that will be sharing $30 million in funding over the next three years to expand and enhance their Supported Child Development and Aboriginal Supported Child Development programming for families with children with extra support needs.
