MLA Glumac advocates in legislature for tackling climate change while boosting Port Moody economy

PORT MOODY – This morning, New Democrat MLA for Port Moody-Coquitlam Rick Glumac spoke in the BC Legislature about the opportunities presented by the Burrard Thermal site in Port Moody to advance clean tech innovation and fight climate change.

“The Burrard Thermal lands can make the Tri-Cities and B.C. a clean energy leader, and it’s time to unlock that potential”, said MLA Glumac in his statement. “All around the world, governments, companies and people are looking for opportunities to reduce emissions and for new innovations to help them to do that. These innovations can be developed right here in B.C. We can lead the world in making the world a better place. CleanBC can provide the catalyst that will spur world-leading growth in the clean tech sector right here in British Columbia. Burrard Thermal lands are now available to help in that goal.

“I have two children that are growing up with an uncertain future. If I could snap my fingers and make the future safe for them, I would, but we can’t just snap our fingers. But we can take full advantage of opportunities when they come up…We can utilize these lands to advance clean technology that could change the world. That is what we should do.”

MLA Glumac has previously discussed the possibilities of projects at Burrard Thermal including carbon capture and carbon sequestration technologies.
