PRINCE GEORGE— George Heyman, New Democrat spokesperson for green economy and technology, and Lana Popham, New Democrat spokesperson for agriculture and food, are touring green innovation projects in Prince George this week.
“Prince George is among the provincial leaders in clean technology and renewable energy, and that’s why we’re here,” said Heyman. “John Horgan and the B.C. New Democrats have proposed Power BC, a progressive plan that would create good paying and skilled jobs for many years in every community in B.C., while giving a boost to clean energy providers. It’s a plan that would ensure that B.C. has access to clean and affordable electricity for generations to come.”
The MLAs look forward to meeting with companies in Prince George that are working towards renewable energy solutions.
“We need to be smart about the future of our energy,” said Popham. “If we maximize the dams we’ve already built, and retrofit the public buildings, homes and businesses that desperately need it, then we will create capacity without flooding farmland, and reduce our vulnerability to runaway hydro bills. We’ll also create jobs.”
