Horgan and Robinson salute Canadian Women’s Rugby Team

VICTORIA – New Democrat Leader John Horgan and local government and sport spokesperson Selina Robinson released the following statement on Canada’s Women’s Rugby team securing a place in the Rugby World Cup Final:

“Congratulations to Canada’s Women’s Rugby team for their epic victory over France, securing them a place in the Rugby World Cup final for the first time ever.

“This talented team of athletes includes British Columbia players Jessica Dovanne of Victoria, Hilary Leith and Andrea Burk of North Vancouver, Brittany Waters of Vancouver, and Julia Sugawara of Surrey.

“They have already done our province and all of Canada proud. We’ll all be cheering on the team in the World Cup Final on Sunday. Go, Canada, Go!”

Horgan also noted the team is based out of the Canadian Rugby Centre of Excellence in Langford, which is in his constituency of Juan de Fuca.
