VICTORIA— John Horgan, Leader of B.C.’s New Democrats, issued the following statement on the federal budget:
“I’m glad to see the Trudeau government stepping up where the Christy Clark government has failed with a firm commitment to transportation and transit infrastructure.
“I’ve already committed to boosting the province’s share in transit infrastructure from Christy Clark’s 33 per cent to 40 per cent, so we’re much closer to getting people and goods moving and reducing traffic congestion across B.C. and in the Metro area.
“I’m also pleased to see federal recognition and some funding to ease our housing crisis. However, after years of neglect from Christy Clark the crisis in housing affordability has gotten so bad that it will take much more cooperation from all levels of government to ensure that everyone can afford to live in our communities.
“It’s also encouraging to see new investments in child care. This is a key priority for me, and I look forward to working with the federal government as we make life easier for families with our $10 a day child care plan.”
